Trade and Commerce

Trade and Commerce are buying and selling for gain. The Lamanites “began to increase in riches, and began to trade one with another and wax great”. They were “a cunning and a wise people, as to the wisdom of the world” (Mosiah 24:7).

The Lamanites went “whithersoever they would,” whether among Lamanites or Nephites. They had “free intercourse one with another, to buy and to sell, and to get gain, according to their desire” (Helaman 6:8).

There were “many merchants in the land,” as well as many lawyers and officers (3 Nephi 6:11). The robbers of Gadianton laid up gold and silver “in store in abundance, and did traffic in all manner of traffic” (4 Nephi 1:46).
