Public Proclamation

Public Proclamation is a public announcement sent “throughout all this land” to gather people or seek their voice. A father told Mosiah to “make a proclamation throughout all this land” among the people of Zarahemla and the people of Mosiah, “that thereby they may be gathered together” (Mosiah 1:10).

He said that on the next day he would proclaim “out of mine own mouth” that Mosiah was “a king and a ruler over this people” (Mosiah 1:10). He also said he would give the people a name by which they would be distinguished above other people brought out of Jerusalem (Mosiah 1:11).

The chief judge sent a proclamation “throughout all the land,” desiring the people’s voice concerning admission of the people of Anti-Nephi-Lehi (Alma 27:21). The people answered that they would give the land of Jershon to their brethren for an inheritance (Alma 27:22).
