Steel

Steel is a material used for blades, bows, tools, weapons, and workmanship. Nephi drew Laban’s sword and saw that its blade was “of the most precious steel,” while its hilt was “of pure gold” (1 Nephi 4:9). Nephi later broke his bow, which was “made of fine steel,” while going forth to slay food (1 Nephi 16:18).

Nephi taught his people to work “in all manner of wood, and of iron, and of copper, and of brass, and of steel,” along with gold, silver, and precious ores (2 Nephi 5:15). Jarom’s people made tools for tilling the ground and preparations for war from iron, copper, brass, and steel (Jarom 1:8). At the hill Ephraim, Corihor’s brother made “swords out of steel” for those he had drawn away before returning to the city Nehor to give battle (Ether 7:9).
